Proceeds benefit Food for the Hungry
Based on 56 stolen bases, each worth $424.46
I played two years in the Dominican Republic and got to know the good people of the country, how personable they are, how humble and full of life. I also saw people who are suffering greatly; suffering without a roof over their head; suffering without enough to eat; suffering without safe drinking water; suffering without proper medical treatment.
That is why I did not think twice when I was asked to join Food for the Hungry Foundation’s Striking Out Poverty initiative, and why I’m storming the base paths this season to support their mission to help nine of the neediest communities in the Dominican Republic.
Please join me and take the challenge to strike out poverty by pledging for every steal I have throughout the remainder of the season. I’m personally pledging $200 per steal.
Through the Striking Out Poverty program, Food for the Hungry is working to bring an end to extreme poverty in the Dominican Republic. Food for the Hungry has worked since 1971 to serve the most vulnerable people on earth through purposeful relief and development. They offer access to life-changing resources such as clean water, medical aid, food, equal educational opportunities to girls and boys, vocational training and empowerment amid unimaginable hardships.
