Central York raising money to fight cancer

Central York's new up-tempo offense could give a boost to childhood cancer patients at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The Panthers will be participating in the national "Touchdowns Against Cancer" program in September to support Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, according to a release from Harrisburg-based fundraising platform Pledge It. The program is a national effort created in partnership between the national high school sports site Maxpreps and St. Jude Children's Hospital.

The program hopes to unify teams across the country in an effort to defeat childhood cancer, according to the release. Fans can pledge a donation for every touchdown their team scores in the last three weeks of September. The money raised goes to support the children at St. Jude.
