I want to hike the vertical distance of Mount Everest and raise money for the Connecticut Food Bank. I’ve never done anything like this before so why not try this event now. I have 20 weeks to train. The event is called 29029. You have 36 hours to reach 29029 feet, the equivalent height of Mt. Everest.
Hike up the mountain, take the gondola down and repeat. The location is Sun Valley Idaho. The average temperature is a High of 81° F / Low 44° F. Our base camp elevation is 5750 feet. The vertical foot gain per hike is 1977 feet and each hike covers 1.6 miles. The number of hikes to reach the height of Mt Everest is 15, we will cover 24 miles total. We have 36 hours to complete this challenge. Speaking of challenges, more than 400,000 Connecticut residents struggle with hunger; more than 117,000 children are food insecure. These are people from all walks of life – children, working parents, seniors, or people living with disabilities. They are our neighbors. I have been a long-time supporter of the Food Bank through my company. A little more than $10 can help provide food for one person for a week. Our goal will help provide food for a week for almost 3000 people. Please help me make this goal.
